I don't care if anyone calls me a bogan. I might be a bit of a bogan and not know?

I did say to DH a while ago that when he met me I was definitely a bogan - I wore hoodies and smoked pot, but I don't anymore so I am less bogan.

It's a term that sometimes can be used affectionately and sometimes in a derogatory way. There are also different types/levels of bogan-ness. There's giving your kid a bogan name and then there's teaching your kid to shoplift. They aren't the same level.

I had never heard the term bogan until I moved to Victoria - growing up in Brisbane the people that fit the "bogan" description were called Bevans!!!

I find this topic hilarious .. Hubby and I always refer to people and ourselves as bogans at times. Mire so me.. It was a word we used at school (I'm 30 this year) we even had a pot selling older friend we nicknamed 'bogan man' who wore black, ripples had messy hair and was always stoned lol.. My best friend at the time ended up marrying him much later and having two children..she works for the government and he grows dope lol.. They're doing well financially hahaha!!

To me it's a bit of a joke really, not offensive at all. To be honest though I don't find much offensive as I don't care what others think of me or my family or my friends. I like who I am and at the end of the day...that's what matters :-)
