    Default Plums, plums, plums

So I'll admit it - Im not a massive fan of plums but our plum tree has gone completely nuts and I have plums coming out of bum.

The are actually not too bad - much nicer then the supermarket ones. I have been walking past tree and eating them here and there, I'll maybe eat half and then chuck the rest on the grouns. But I was at supermarket and they are like $9 a kilo so I thought, wow, maybe I should make more effort not to waste them.

So what can I do wiht them, aside from eating them fresh or making jam?

Also, does anyone know how to turn them into prunes at end of season?

    TIA

    Plum crumble or pie?

What about freezing for future fruit smoothies?

It's hard when you have a glut.

freezing for smoothies in a good idea!

I had planned on freezing the berries and currants but I keep eating them.

There is seriously only so much fruit and veg we can eat - we have even been giving them away to friends.

Stew them and put them in jars and away in a dark cupboard and reheat them for yummy dessert in mid winter. You could even use the stewed ones in pies or strudels.

I'm in the same spot at the moment with apricots and plums!!!!! Better head out no and do another pick!!! I'm going to freeze for thermie fruity dreams!!!

    This.

I did it one year. Added sugar and brandy for extra preserving properties. So yummy with yoghurt or custard

I had the same with mangoes this season after a bonza wet season. I puréed some in tubs and froze them for baby, packed them into snap lock bags for the kids who love them half frozen, took them to play group and kindy, used them for smoothies, on ice cream and in salads, made chutney, sent some to Perth for family, used them in curries, made ds icy poles.
Blessed with 2, hoping for 3. Back on the IVF train.

Chinese style plum dipping sauce. yum. Can be put in sterile jars to preserve too.
