Settle down. If it eases your concern the "baller" was laughing

Try www.dictionary.com, they have an app too.

I don't think anyone in this thread would laugh at someone who took the time to look up or figure out a word. I think you'll find most of our comments are aimed at professional signs and publications, whose editors are paid to know better.

A number of people who have trouble with language have actually found the thread helpful, because it alerts them to common mistakes they are making and teaches them the correct way. The automatic response to being corrected doesn't have to be offense; personally I'm grateful when corrected... At first embarrassed, but ultimately grateful.

But if you're looking for an argument I'm sure there's not much I can say!

    Gotcha

Some people have posted similar things in the past, they've taken offence at the premise of the thread. I wanted to make sure no-one thought this was a place we all came to make fun of people.

And here's me typing "take offense" in one post and "take offence" in the next.

As far as I know, unlike licence and license, there's no difference in meaning, it's just American vs British spelling (the US uses an "s" and Britain uses a "c").

My husband just had an invoice book made up by professionals, as ordered by the company he does work for, and I noticed this the other day

I am thinking of asking it to be done again. We paid $450 for the book and an ad on true local.
