Surely someone would have checked for them in that case? Or spellcheck? Or something?!!!

I keep seeing "and" instead of "an" in threads and it's driving me bananas. For example, we saw and elephant at the zoo. Do people really not hear the difference between an/and? It's not like it can be a typo because it's a whole extra letter.

I sometimes find myself doing that because my fingers type faster than my brain. So, it can be a typo, but I hope I spot them all and delete excess Ds before posting.

Oh yes I am guilty of 'an' instead of 'and' especially on my phone. Something about the way my fingers hit the keys.

I'm shocking for stopping and reading back over for typos, too.

I'm usually the other way around and use 'an' instead of 'and' when I'm on my phone, but only when I'm too lazy to go back and correct it. ^___^

"You have to pass alot of tests to be a permanent fairy"... But apparently not so many spelling tests to become a children's book author or editor!

Spotted at pre-school this morning. It took all my control not to demand it be taken off the shelf!

And I am now picturing the hyperbole and a half 'alot' sitting there as a test that must be passed. (In my head it's very similar to the scary laser eye statues from Neverending Story...)

I keep seeing apostrophes used in plurals, e.g. My Nan's tea bag's.

    Arrrrgh!

The 'they're/their/there' mistake is so common I honestly don't think a day goes by that I don't see it.
