Default Spelling and Grammar Vent Thread #2

That's what makes it all the more shocking. They are teaching a subject with no knowledge base. How crazy.

I am terrible at grammar and spelling. Embarrassing really. And when I did 4 unit English at HSC level, I mentioned it to my teacher who said and I quote "It doesn't matter, no one cares about your spelling at this level". Terrible. But really, what chance does someone have if their teachers are telling them things like that?

I know I have done this one before.

But for the LOVE OF GOD if you work in interiors and generally raving over pretty things you REALLY need to stop spelling divine as DEVINE.

    *tic*

I can't tell you how much it irritates me.

And yes. I do recognise my using 'but', 'I' and 'and' to start sentences might cause a similar explosive tic in someone else. I apologise in advance.

Re educators not being educated... last night I remembered an essay that was handed back to me in third year uni. The unit was Australian Literature, the lecturer who marked the essay was a professor renowned for his work in the subject area. He had crossed out all the words I had spelt eg "-ised", "-isation" and replaced them with "z"s, stating that "s"s were an "Americanization".

    I rest my fricking case.

Default Spelling and Grammar Vent Thread #2

Just saw an ad on tv for 'Real Living' magazine that had 'design bargins' come up on the screen. Am I missing something? Or are they missing something?
