It's threads like this that I actually get more of an edumacation... sorry education then (or is it than?) I ever did at school! I'm (or I am?) a terrible grammar/spelling idiot, but I love reading threads like this, it does make me watch what I'm writing! I actually taught myself how to spell 'definitely' I was one of those definately people for a LONG time. lol

Oh and my pet hate is still the he's/his battle that people constantly struggle with.

"I went to he's house today."

"His going to serve salad for lunch."

This thread is made for me! I could go on and on about the spelling and grammatical errors that irk me. In fact just the other day on BH I saw 'irk' written as 'erk', aaargh!

The misuse of 'your' in place of 'you're' kills me, as do the many variations of the word 'definitely'. I have begun to see a very disturbing trend lately of the word 'defiantly' being used instead of 'definitely'. It's a completely different word!!

Don't even get me started on apostrophes.... they're there when they shouldn't be and so often missing when they should. And of course the age old confusion surrounding the words 'there', 'their' and 'they're'. Is it really that difficult?

Should of/would of/could of instead of should HAVE etc... yet another killer and, as the OP so eloquently put it, the equivalent to getting poked in the eye with a chopstick

I really could keep going here but I'll get off my soapbox after one more whinge... 'alot' is not a word. It's 'a lot', TWO WORDS. If you're a spelling/grammar nut, check out this "lesson" in the correct use of 'a lot'. It's the funniest thing ever :

    http://hyperboleandahalf.blogspot.co...verything.html

Thanks OP for allowing this vent. I'm sure I'll be back!

The Goodification. What on earth are you thinking KFC? It's a horrible misuse of language, and not even a clever slogan. Also, their Goodest Get Togethers. Makes me want to weep.
