Oh my...some shockers of names in this thread!
My 4yo niece is friends with a girl called Shaniqua, that's probably the strangest, most bogan one I know in real life.

If #2 is a girl I wanted to call her Maya (My-a, not Mee-a) until DH pointed out that in Aus people would think we named her after the Myer chain.
For DD, I wanted to use an irish name (I'm irish) so I'd write down a name I like and see if DH could pronounce it...if an educated man in his 30's, who lived in Ireland for 3 years got it wrong then there wasn't much hope for the rest of Aus getting it right so it was off the list.
I've had to cross many, many lovely names off.

I know a Shanquia which looks bad when people write it and the h looks like a k. I also met someone who loved Gwyneth Paltroe (sp?) but wanted to use Banana instead of Apple. Not sure if she did or not. She deleted everyone off fb who laughed at her for it.

Banana?? Was it for a boy or a girl? Not that it matters, it's still ridiculous.
Did she end up with 0 friends left on FB?

Lol...about 10 years ago, when I was still living inIreland I heard a woman in a shopping centre calling her twin daughters back to her, they were Britney and Shania.
Yes, she was the irish equivalent of a bogan...
