Hi I was wondering if anyone could give me any information on studying midwifery, i'm living in Toowoomba at the moment I just started my 3rd year of midwifery in the uk but we had to emigrate due to husbands work! I'm hoping t start studying in 2014 we may be living nearer to brissie then it depends on kids, the eldest will be almost leaving school then. I'm not sure if i will get any credits from my studies already done but i'm prepared to start again at the beginning that i get accepted! I'm going to read al the posts when i get a minute. If anyone has any info to share that would be great, thanks

I haven't popped on for a while! Almost finished first year nursing, yay!
Anyway, I came across this job ad and thought of all the ladies here doing BMID.
For those doing a BMID and live in QLD, there are 3 positions in bundy open for student midwives.

    HERE

I also forgot to add good luck to all those that are starting to pop up in the thread, who are applying for next year Nursing or Midwifery. I was asked to be a student rep at our open day and met a lot of nice prospective students for both degree's.

You won't regret going to uni. You will discover new things about yourselves and feel more independant and stronger for it. The information you learn, while astounding, will boost your confidence. At first glance, you may think 'I will NEVER understand this' and then the next thing you know, it's as natural as breathing is.

Griffith University has students placed at Toowoomba Hospital. I would suggest you ring Mary Sidebotham (program convenor). She is from the UK and would likely understand what you've been doing in your program there. We are told it's the only program in Queensland that is internationally recongised so that might be good for you if you want to work back in the UK at some stage. I must warn you though that it is a VERY demanding program but very woman centred with continuity of care at its heart

I have a job for next year So excited. I applied for the part time grad year at the private hospital I am doing my clinical at, and found out on Tuesday that I have it! I love it there, so am thrilled to only know I have to pass this semester and I will have a grad position. Considering about 50% of the students will miss out this year in Vic (from our rough estimates) I am pretty pleased!
I really should be doing those 2 assignments I am yet to finish that are Due Friday, but I must say, I am severely lacking motivation this semester, probably even more so now I know I just have to pass!

It is just a guess of a number yet. Computer match doesn't get released till October so we won't know officially till then. But there is a good 120 or so just BMID students through ACU,VU and Monash. So adding in some post grads, and then the double degree students who just want MID- works out IMO to at least 160+.
I only know mine because it is a private hospital. I know 2 of the hospitals groups that received over 130 applications for their 8 positions.
