    Default 2012 Weight Gain Support

    Happy new year everyone

I thought it would be nice to start a new support thread for those who are trying to put on weight. Somewhere where we can share our goals, tips and tricks, and vent about our weight.

In 2012 I hope to gain 5kg - any more than that is a bonus! My second goal is to stop getting depressed while looking at photos of voluptuous women - I will never have Salma Hayek's curves, it's just not going to ever happen, and I need to accept that!

Last but not least, I'm going to stop getting upset when people tell me that I need to eat a big mac or ask me if I'm eating. Instead, I'm going to reply with something witty - I just need to think of what that witty comment will be

I'm not going to focus on the number side of things, but my goals are to tone up and eat healthier, exercise more (or just generally be more active) I realise that to start off with some weight will drop but once I start building muscle tone I'm sure the scales will increase somewhat.
I think its more way of thinking I need to work on. I just want to be healthy, and not feel like I can't lead a healthy lifestyle without being accused of dieting, like I have to be eating junk because I'm skinny. Junk food makes me feel so sick.
In the past few months I have drastically cut back on chocolate, lollies, and coke.

That's a good point Bell&Bug (re: the number side of things) - I don't even own scales actually, so I don't know when i'll know that i've reached my goal I can usually tell how much weight i've gained or lost by looking in the mirror at my hips. I suppose my aim is to look in the mirror and not have a bony reflection

Good luck with yout goals I try to eat a lot of wholesome fatty foods (avocado, olive oil, organic peanut butter, whole dairy etc). A lot of people comment that I should eat more junk, but I think there is a lot of confusion regarding fats. I want to put weight on, not have a heart attack!

Hey all, it's great to see a thread like this,
I have always had issues gaining weight and was unable to conceive until I gained weight. Now we are trying to concieve again. The issue being I get quite I'll when I eat a lot of junk. But I'm on my special 'diet'.
I will continue to follow this thread

I just weighed myself on some scales at Dad's house (I don't have any scales at home), and I weigh 50kg I was really shocked, it's the least I've weighed since late primary/early high school. I figured I would be around the 53kg mark. It was the end of the day too and I had just eaten a huge lunch. Gosh :-/

Anyway, I'm still on my special weight gain 'diet', so I'll keep at it.

    How is everyone else going?

I don't really belong in this section (quite the opposite really!) but just wanted to say anyone who tells you to eat junk to gain weight is an idiot. And I think the last line of your post above is the perfect reply!
Good luck with your weight gain.

Thank you for your suggestion. I've been eating high calorie, high carb meals for years

Anyway, while I'm in here, I may as well update. I'm not sure where everyone else has disappeared to from this section, but I'm hoping it's because you have all gained weight!

I have had regular consultations with a nutritionist and naturopath in recent times and I'm really benefiting from her advice I'm on a new drink supplement to have inbetween meals and snacks. The only issue is that I constantly feel like a stuffed pig with all the food I'm consuming
