I've always been told two weeks prior to spots, while you have spots and than two after while the virus(it is a
virus isn't it) works its way out

Thank you.. I also thought the same.. However my friends daughter has just had the spots since Boxing Day and now they are scabbed up she wants to play and I'm concerned it's not long enough.. She's adamant, I'm not so sure and feel mean if I keep making excuses.. If it's unnecessary..

    Eek. Thanks again

In childcare regulations, kids with chicken pox must be excluded until all spots are scabbed over

Yep, this. My ds had chickenpox. Had the rest of that week off daycare but was fine to go back the begining of the next week.

Thanks all.. Her GP has told her as long as all the spots are scabbed she is fine to get out.. It wasn't a bad case with only spots on her legs..

It's really bizarre how conflicting the advice is online.. Good ol Dr Google!

    Happy New Year!!

You are contagious from when you first get it (10 days prior to the appearance of the spots) until ALL the leisons have crusted over. Its approx 2 weeks off school or kinder

My daughter just had this over Christmas and I was told the period before the spots appear and when they are blisters, so until scabbed over.
