Question Confused New to Lismore But have PHI is John Flynn to far to travel ?

Recently moved to Lismore and have found out i'm pregnant. We have PHI and I have heard about John Flynn on the Gold Coast. Are there any Private Maternity Hospitals in the Northern Rivers region?

Another option is Private room in Public Hospital....

I really want to go to John Flynn but I am worried its to far to travel when labour kicks in.

Any thoughts would help me greatly.

Hi I've had both my babies at LBH, the most recent 6 months ago. I was a private patient in public hospital. I can honestly say they were fantastic. My Ob was Dr Phil Steele. Yeah that would probably worry me about John Flynn being that far away. Congrats on your pregnancy & feel free to PM me if you would like to know anything.

When I was living in Byron I had my first child at John Flynn and it was an awesome experience.

There was a really bad ob at LBH a few years back. In fact he currently under investigation for all sorts of things, but the ob's that work there now are quite good.

I'd probably prefer johnflynn, but I certainly wouldn't want to do the 2hrs (or 3 in traffic) while in labour with my first.

There are also some great midwifes, and there is a birthing facility (I think at alstonville???) If you're not high risk. Problem is that I don't think the facility is recognised by PHI.

To be honest though, if you're going to LBH I'm not certain I'd use PHI either! Have you seen Phil? Or the other ob? (so sad, I can't remember his name)

The other private Ob is Glen Taylor... I have only seen Phil Steele & he is awesome. By going private with him & a private patient at LBH I was out of pocket approx $800.

Issue is there's an extra 30-40 mins Lismore to byron...

Byron to John Flynn 1.5-2hrs, Lismore is a bit longer...
