Default Implanon? Should I try it?

    Hi ladies,
Was going to give an implanon implant a go, then started reading about the side effects. The mini pill sent me troppo, so I am wondering if I should try one or not?

The implanon sent me troppo!!! I was a moody, angry witch.
The only good thing was how easy it was to get and be removed if you want to try it. And remember they are different for everybody.

i havnt had any issues with mine but i *think* its the same as the mini pill so my guess is if you went troppo with it then it would be the same for the implanon.

    my experience with Implanon

Good - i didn't fall preggers, I didn't get mood swings, i didn't have to worry about it falling out. The first 4 months it worked a treat with a 46 day cycle thrown in (i had the marina in and was on a 12 day on 12 day off so it was WONDERFUL) No pimples, hair falling out, weight gain, no strange black hairs
BAD - towards the end i went for 9 weeks of bleeding with the odd day off thrown in for being a lovely lady. Bleeding wasn't enough to use a pad but to much not too. i have a tiny scar on my arm...

implanon is really different for each person, but it does help to get opinions from people!

i just recently (in october) had mine removed after having it in for 17 months. whilst i didnt get AF for the first 6 months i had it i also gained around 12 - 15kg. i was actively exercising (45 - 60 minutes a day 7 days a week) and eating healthy and i really struggled to lose any weight.

towards the end of having it in, probably the last 10 weeks or so i was getting AF every 10 days.

since having it removed (which was a total nightmare, if you're gross like me and intrigued by bruises and such i can show you photos ) i had AF the day after, then 28 days after that, then my next cycle was 52 days.

my main concern is whether it's going to be difficult to conceive post implanon, but if you're not planning on having any more kids you at least wouldnt have to worry about that!

    Thanks for your replies ladies.
We are about 98% sure that we don't want anymore kids. I wanted something long lasting, and the mirena sounds even worse. Am not too sure about the implanon, am booked in to have it done in three weeks, so will decide by then. I am BF and my last experience with the mini pill was horrendous, as I said.
    Cheers

I've had 3 implants now, I think they are great, cheap & they work! Lol
When you first get it though it takes about 3-4 months for your body to get used to it, so if you bleed a lot with it just try & stick it out. It will get used to it and get you into a cycle.
For me I had a period every 2 month. and a few friends I know didn't get their period at all (lucky buggers)

I had implanon before kids and it was GREAT for about 2 years until i started bleeding. I had another one put in after my seconds child and it was HORRIBLE!! Mood swings, NO sex drive and lasted only 4 months until i started bleeding non stop.
I also considered mirena but have since read ALOT of people have crazy side effects too. Ive just started taking a pill (recommended by my gynae) and i explained about mood swings etc and this was the one he recommended so we'll see i guess!!
I really think its just finding the right level of hormones in each that fits your body. Everyone is diffderent.
Id talk to a specialist (gynea) rather than just a gp to recommend one that willl suit you!!
    Good luck
