Default So confused about choosing a Private hospital!!!

    Hi guys,

I just found out im pregnant ystday and im so confused about which hospital to go with.

Ive had two gorgeous boys at st george private with the same ob, but now ive moved towards Bankstown and Kogarah is abit of a hike for me.
THe other nearest private hospital is Hurstville community.

I will also change ob's as he is near retirement. And the ones ive been looking at deliver only at Hurstville Community.

Has anyone gone to Hurstville Community?? If so what was ur experience and which ob did you choose,

    Thanks heaps for ur time

Hi, I spent last night in hurstville community getting a cervical stitch put in. They were all lovely. They were great to me & I heard them talking to the new mums & dads very positively. We are going to st George private for the delivery even though we have moved 45 mins+ away. I'm comfortable with my ob & the hospital looked great.

    HOpe your ok

i loved st george private and my ob was dr childs, he was fantastic but he is

getting old and i heard he will be retiring soon.

Im just worried about the distance and time to get to kogarah from banktown.

Im also looking at choosing another ob , and heard dr Booth and dr lau are pretty good.

I just need to hear from other peoples stories about hurstville community and other ob's

A close friend had her son at Hurstville Community.
After an hour of labour she was offered a c-section, which she took. It was deemed elective, ie it wasn't medically necessary. After the birth the baby was taken away from her for several hours at a time over the next few days with no explanation other than "tests"- she never received any results or info. As a consequence breastfeeding was not established and he was bottle fed. The staff were not communicative, some abrupt with my friend. She felt very left in the dark and in the end there was nothing at all wrong with her son, no apology, no further info. He is now a healthy 1.5 yr old. Also it cost her a couple of thousand over what she was quoted due to the c section. I have heard they have a really high rate of caesars. Which is great if you want a Caesar! Anyway, this is just one story, I hope this doesn't happen to you or anyone else.

I'm doing well. Just had our nt scan today & baby is doing great.
Maybe you can do a maternity tour at the hospitals you are interested in and see what vibe you get & maybe even have a quick chat to a new mum.
