Default help with ideas for new years day lunch

    Hi all,

I need some ideas for a menu for new years day. It also happens to be DS's b'day. I am having mum, and in laws over for a small get together.

It is also going to be 33 degrees that day. I would rather not have a bbq as we will probably have one the night before. I'm stuck as what to cook, as I need some kind of ethnic (Italian) menu!

I'm thinking as a second course to do chicken parma, but what could I do for a first? It would have to be a pasta of some sort (except lasagna as we had that on xmas)
Im also thinking of doing some fish?

    TIA

Can you buy fancy homemade ravioli where you are? I'm thinking along the lines of prawns/ricotta/pinenut. If as a first just serve a small handful each with some lightly heated baby spinach leaves and drizzled olive oil and maybe some toasted pinenuts.
