I don't know about mice, but rats make great pets.

Back when we were teenagers my DW (then GF) kept pet rats. They were great company; you'd be using the computer during winter and they'd crawl up your jumper for the warmth, then snuggle in the collar with their noses poking out, tickling your ear.

Had you considered catching them & keeping them as pets?

You live near me. Come down the hill, catch them, and then you can have pets!! I won't charge you for the privilege. In fact I may make you cake as a thank you.

I saw throw packs at the shops that you just toss in hard to reach areas, places like bunnings have them

Wear gloves though as a humans sent puts them off.

We have caught 2 of the feral things in our lounge....so gross

Just an update. We threw around some rat sacks and the noise continued. Hubby then noticed a wasp fly in a gap between the bricks and the window frame. Turned out the noise was a massive wasp nest! And I'm allergic to wasps. $130 and a call to a local pest guy and the wasps are dead.

Good to hear the wasps are gone! You can get a powder spray for them too
