Default Was anyone else disturbed by these thoughts during santa photos?

Had santa photo today with my 4 kids. My youngest 2 daughters (2 and 12 mths tomorrow - Christmas baby ) were not happy about it.

I felt like *everything* santa said sounded like he was a paedophile.

"Do you want to ring my bell little girl"

    "Santa's coming tonight"

"If you'r a good girl santa will give you a special surprise"

    etc

I was silently willing him to stop talking as everything sounded like it was out of santa pron'hoe hoe hoe' etc

Am I the only one who had this reaction????

I find the whole santa thing wierd. Encouraging your kids to sit on a strange dude's knee, even if they don't want to. Not for me.

Yes. I took DS to Santa for the first time this year and I thought how odd it was. Who is this man? And why on earth would I want photos of my son sitting on his lap? It's such a bizarre concept.

I know... i was thinking, there is no other situation in which we encourage kids to go against their instincts.

Unfortunately I had to go in the photo and had two of them on my knee, and my 13 yo (lol who was dying at being forced to be in a santa photo) had my 3 yo on her knee. I was not expecting to have to go in the photo and if i'd known would at least have put mascara on :-s

its all in the interpretation. you can make just about anything sound 'sleezy' if you take it a certain way.

why not just take it in the way it was probably intended. ie: santa has a bell - why shouldnt he ask if she wats to have a turn of ringing it.
