Shopping Square has 550D's on sale for $499 at the moment - just single lense, but the second lense is only $200 so heaps cheaper than usual!

I have the 1000D and LOVE the photos it takes.

This was taken at the Werribee Open rang zoo in Feb this year, we were a good 50-60m from the giraffes, but with my good lens, didn't loose any quality!

I will never regret buying an SLR. I have the 500D and LOVE it. I'd recommend doing a basic photography course though. you don't want to be stuck on AUTO when theres so much potential there.

If you want to see some 'everyday' photos pm me and I'll send you the fb link..

I bought my 450D several years ago and chose it over the 1000D because it came with the twin lens kit.
Since then, I have travelled to Africa and have some of the most amazing shots!

My addiction is getting out of hand though. I now have, in addition to the standard 18-55 and 55-250 lenses, a 10-20wide angle, 18-200mm and 50mm 1.2f AND I have a 90mm macro on layby...

I'm by no means a professional, but I really enjoy getting my toy out and having a play.

Do it! But also book into a class, if you google classes in your area there are probably some one off classes you can attend to help you. I've been meaning to do it for ages, I think teds advertise them. I've got the 1100D but I got one for my sister for her baby shower too so I think I'll let her figure it out and then teach me
