I agree with this viewpoint. It is important to the mother, and if the doesn't believe, then it shouldn't really matter to him.

I wholeheartedly agree with the decision about baptism!! If someone (ex) had my child baptised I would be ropeable. The child should be able to make this decision for herself as I believe the judge ordered.

I am actually impressed that she was made to pay his costs! An order to pay costs is very rare in family court cases. Hopefully next time there will be more willingness to negotiate through mediation!

In regards to the changing of the name it kept the original orders in place! Maybe there is more to this than reported (as there usually is).

So the father should have their child for alternate Christmases. Why this had to be decided by a court is beyond me!

I hope that they can both put the child first, rather than this being taken back to court again and again!

The mother only wanted to hyphenate the name to add her name.

Which is why I think there is more to it.

To know the reason you would have to read the entire judgement including the reasons the judge decided that this was in the best interests of the child.

I am not saying whether or not it is right or wrong.

I think the decision regarding the baptism was well handled, as was the decision for the child to spend alternate Christmases with the other parent. I do not agree with the decision not to hyphenate the last name through.

Every 2nd Christmas with the father I agree with too. I don't know what the deal is with the baptis m if the other parent is a non-believer though. I don't agree with the ruling of the last name.

I'd be LIVID if someone was to baptise my children!
Of course it matters! I think it's a load of complete horse shizzle and it's VERY important to me that my children are allowed to make their own religious decisions.
I'm in two minds about names and christmas...it's quite a grey area as far as I'm concerned.

Why would you be livid? It's not like you would be able to tell.

If you truly believe that a child should be allowed to make their own religious decision, then why would you want to stop a child who WANTS to be baptised? Or are they only entitled to make a decision about their religion if YOU agree with it?
