Default Is this silly? (gift idea)

DF wants to buy a camera to take on our honeymoon next year (I've got one but we want to carry one each so we get photos of each other). Anyway, I've just woken up from a dream where I got him a gift card from a camera store as a last minute addition to his Christmas present, and I thought it was an awesome idea in the dream. But now that I think about it it seems very pointless for me to buy him a voucher with our joint funds for something he's going to buy anyway, if that makes sense.

So I guess I'm asking: would you buy your partner a gift card towards something they wanted?

All our gift come out of joint funds as that all we have.

I would love a voucher towards something I wanted. I'd be over the moon...

DH and I only have joint funds so our presents come out of that anyway. It's not silly at all.

Thanks so much guys. It's really funny though; DF just saw my camera on the bed (I'm getting stuff together for going away this weekend) and started talking about how he was thinking of getting a camera still, but really when he thought about it he could just use his phone. So then I was trying to convince him why using an actual camera is much better, as I'd decided to go ahead with this today! Lol. I think I'll still get it anyway; if I get him a voucher he'll have to get a camera.

In this house, that would have been considered a huge hint. He wants a camera

Get the voucher! To me your partner is doing the whole guilty hint thing. Who cares if it is joint funds. The voucher is a "you have permission to spend our money" thing. Especially as it as an addition I say go for it.

Thanks so much for your votes of confidence, lol! Just bought him a $100 voucher. I think he'll appreciate it.
