    Default Shut the door obsession!

DS 20 months has an absolute OBSESSION with closing doors! I know it's quite common but it's DRIVING ME INSANE!

    Please help!

I've tried distracting and taking him to do something else, tried 3! 2! 1! (but he puts his hands in the air and makes rocket noises)

I just put those padded door stopper things on, the one that go up high so they can't get it off. I was so sure one of them would end up with jammed fingers!

No advice, but I empathise. My 16mo DS CANNOT pass by an open door/cupboard without closing it. Made it lots of fun the other day when I was going in and out of the bedroom carting dirty washing.

We joke that he's going to grow up to be a doorman.

I'm not worried about his fingers, he has never jammed them yet, touch wood! I think if we had a door stopper he would just have fun trying to slam it!
I want to teach him to stop because even if a door stopper works here it won't work at other peoples houses, and he even insists on closing doors at random places, like closing the lady into her office at the bank!

On the plus side at least when he goes through a door you know he'll close it behind him and leave the air-conditioning goodness inside...

My nephew did that all the time so when he was over we told him he had "his door" that he could play with - just a screen door to out the back so it had the air pressure thing so he couldn't exactly slam his fingers and I just sat nearby to keep an eye on him.

My DS (2.5) is exactly the same. He's obsessed with closing doors, and he rouses on me if I leave them open.

Bahaha... I've been trying '1, 2, 3' with my DD1, 22 months... it goes like this for example:

Mummy: A, please get off the table...
A: (looks at me blankly, stays put)
    Mummy: Right, 1...
A: (looking at me blankly, and without any emotion) 2!

    Sigh, LOL...
