    Default Thailand Weddings

Anyone gotten married in Thailand? OH and I are looking at getting married in Thailand this year, and it would be great if others can share their experiences.
At the moment we are looking at Koh Samui or Koh Chang, favouring Koh Samui at the moment though.

Did you plan the whole wedding yourself, or did you use a package?
Did you get a dress over there, or buy one in Australia and take it with you?
Is it something you would recommend?
Anything else you want to add?

No doubt I'll have a million other questions, but for now thats all I can think of.

We are eloping, so no guests apart from the two of us and our two girls

DH and I eloped in Thailand. We organized it before we left. I took a dress- silk. Cocktail dress and shoes with me as we were only there 9 days married day 4. DH bought slacks and had a shirt tailored there. If we had more time a dress made there would have worked.
We were married at a beautiful resort in Ao Nang. It was just us and. 2 friends as witnesses.
We had 5 Buddhist monks and 2 Buddhist nuns officiate. The ceremony was almost 2.5 hours - but amazing. So different and beautiful.

If we did it again we would consider marrying here in the registry office and having the ceremony there- only because it was incredibly difficult to get my name changed when we got back- and it's by deed poll. The blardy idiot at births deaths and marriages suggested I married overseas to bring a terrorist into the country- completely ignoring the fact we are both Australian. We had to have stat decs done and a whole lot of extra crap.

That aside it was the best thing we ever did. Dh got to dance up the town with the locals while I sat with the nuns and got ready. The experience was awesome. We are hoping to renew our vows traveling again in the coming years.

Ok, I am a bit confused. I called BDM to find out information about getting married OS and registering the marriage. She said the marriage will be recognised, but couldn't be registered in Australia. I've just been told on another forum that people they know have had to re-do their vows in Australia as their weddings in Thailand weren't recognised in Australia.
    I am majorly confused now

    Help??
