Just wanted to thank you all for your posts as its helped me out too! I called the mercy for women birth centre and have made an appt to attend their info session in jan. They still have space in August 2012 so hopefully it's good and I can get in! I went private with DD in Brisbane and we can't afford it this time really and I also want to be home with DD soon after the birth so I hope it all works out well for me.

    Thanks again

I live out west and my 'local' hospital would be sunshine hospital which I've heard baaaaad things about so really want to fudge my address or something so I get to be in a hopefully better hospital. I'm due in August 2012.
Stay away from Sunshine! I have only heard terrible stories from that hospital- depending on how far West you are have heard good things about Werribee Mercy? It's public.

I rang werribee mercy but they're booked up. The woman was rude on the phone to me anyway so I'm glad it was booked up! Mercy for Women at heidelberg seemed lovely and have space so I'm attending an info session with them in jan. I live in Caroline Springs...

My GP has said my two options are the Women's or Mercy in Heidelberg. I'm only 11 weeks but already starting to get anxious about giving birth and reading some horror stories about maternity hospitals isn't helping.

I'm low risk and am looking at shared care but still need to decide about the hospital. Would love to hear from anyone who has experiences in either of these hospitals. Thanks
Hi Manda, I am a student midwife at mercy Heidelberg and LOVE this hospital! I am looking at recruiting some pregnant ladies to take part in my follow through program so if you are keen for some more info I would love to hear from you!

No need To be anxious, it is all very normal what You are Experiencing! Thanks, Amelia

Both are tertiary hospitals and you can't go wrong with either. At 11weeks, you are probably too late to get into the birth centre at Mercy, they are extremely popular. Mercy is probably the easier of the two for parking as I think it is a little bit cheaper and you don't have city traffic to contend with.

I have been a patient in both hospitals and cannot fault either of them. I have my current pregnancy booked in at Mercy Heidelberg.
