Default Am I doing something wrong here?

OK so DD is not far off 5 months. Never been a great sleeper okay I get that I have one of those babies. What I don't get and someone please tell me if its not suppose to be this way is that she just doesn't "fall asleep" ... you know like hi i'm a baby I am tired I'm off to sleep night!!!!

Do you know what I have to go through every time she wants to sleep.....Ok she cries for so long before finally giving in to sleep. She will NOT sleep in her cot or on my bed on her own I have to rock her to sleep mostly in the baby carrier then gently put her down and just hope that it was gentle enough that she doesn't wake and cry even more because shes even more tired.

Is it suppose to be like this? If someone tells me she is still young and let her be then that's fine Ill be happy............but if I am doing it all wrong please tell me I have no one else IRL to ask.

Sorry if none of this makes sense but been up since 2am and I am seeing double.

Hugs!! Sounds like you are having a hard time
I won't say 'she's young.. Blah blah blah'...
Does she suffer from reflux/colic etc?
Could you try a cradle swing thing to help rock her to sleep? Not ideal but may give you a break.
You said she won't settle in her cot, I would assume you have tried patting etc while you put her in?
Maybe it's her laying flat she doesn't like? Totally against SIDS safe sleeping but have you tried propping her up a bit?
    Playing music?
Sorry I'm probably not any help but just some ideas maybe you or haven't tried?
    Dummy??
    Rocking in a pram?
Hold her outside in the fresh air to settle (night time)
    Hope you find something.
Have you tried or thought about a sleep school?
    Good luck with it all!!!
Wish I could be of some help.

You replying is help thank you so much. Yes she has reflux but gosh don't most babies? Ok have tried everything she will only fall asleep upright in baby carrier then I put her down. I guess this is not the bad part its the screaming before she sleeps she fights it until her eyes are bulgy lol Nope never sleeps in pram like other babies, all the beds, basinets and cots in this house are all propped. Argh I just wish I knew if I am doing something wrong. Oh and hates the dummy.

You aren't doing anything wrong, there isn't a manual for motherhood (unfortunatley). My LO is 4 months, has reflux (lol, yes most babies do I hear), won't take a dummy, and takes ages to settle/fall asleep some days. He doesn't sleep in the pram, cries all the time in the car, I sleep him on his tummy because he is most comfortable that way. He had a bladder infection at 6 weeks old (undiagnosed for two weeks, long story, stupid Doctors) and he would hardly sleep unless he was in my carrier, and I guess he just never got the hang of sleep. I'm not suggesting that your LO has a UTI either, please don't get me wrong. I guess I was trying to let you know you aren't alone, having a bub who doesn't sleep.

Do you swaddle her? Do you have a set routine, bath, boob/bottle, bed? Are you maybe noticing her tired signs too late? (If I do this all hell breaks loose! )

I have been trying to put my 14 mtg old to sloep fir the last 2 hrs. I'm at my wits end and have given up. She thinks it's great fun. It's always been like this & I'm sure I must be doing something wrong too. Sorry, I have no uplifting support right now because I'm still struggling.
