Oh I didn't ever think of that. We have fallen into use of 'bits' largely because when our dogs lick themselves i tell them to stopping locking their 'bits'. DD picked that up well before we even thought about referring to anatomical parts correctly.

I use proper names for anatomy and so does my DD. Nothing to be ashamed of.

I use fandangle a lot but that's cause it's a running joke with friends and a habit. I tell dd to leave her fandangle alone. But I call a penis a penis

It's very important to use the correct terminology. I've come across a child abuse case similar to what Loving6 mentioned, and there were huge issues because the little girl called it something else.

As for words in this forum, I substitute them to make them less googable.

Agreed. But as DD has never asked what people's are called we've never had the occasion to use anything else.

Hmm.. undecided what we will do.

I think we will use proper names for things, as I agree with PP who have said that it's just a matter of fact thing. I also hate some 'cutesy' or coy nicknames for parts of the body.

However, at the moment I don't really think I use any words at all to describe those parts! I was explaining to a friend about the progesterone pessary I have to have, and she asked where it went so I kind of gestured and said "up" in a telling way... I think I'm a big fan of the expression that says it all...

But that's for adults, so when I need to talk about it then I think I will use proper names for DD.

I say 'prawn' on BH because it makes me laugh. I'm easily amused.

I always forget to change the spelling of p*rn on here (I remembered just then! lol). It's done to make sure it doesn't come up in a search, and that's fine by me.

I use real words. We also use silly words from time-to-time, but mostly the real words. DD is taught real words first... she hears the silly words too sometimes, and knows what they are, but generally uses the real words (she uses 'gina rather than vagina sometimes... when she was little she couldn't say vagina and it's kinda stuck).

I use "dirty words," when we're being dirty though... lol.
