Hello ladies, sorry I haven't been on in ages but I have been reading. I have been trying not to stress over upcoming treatment do have concentrated my time on work and things. (and a bit too much shopping!)
Well the day is here and I start stimming tonight! Egg pickup is expected to be 7th August.
I'm excited but anxious at the same time. I'm not very good with anything medical so needles and being put to sleep bother me a lot, but I've done it once so I'm confident I can do it again!!!
Need some opinions/advice though......, I want to have 2 embies put back as that is what I did last cycle and got my handsome boy. The clinic want to put back blasts. I just want things to be as similar to the last cycle as possible, but I suppose im asking, what would you choose to do as I am having a bit of a stress over this. So ....., 1 or 2??????

    Thanks
    Jen

    Hey Jen!!

All the best, as you said you have done the injections, been put to sleep and you have your gorgeous boy - so your an old hand at it now.
I always if possible put 2 in now, even if they are blasties or 3 days oldies.
I would just ask yourself are you prepared to have twins? If your ok with that, go for it! I'm just in the mind it gives me double the chance.
    Good luck x

Zabella - I am also with Dr Eskander at CFC and love him. He is very thorough knowledgable and once you get to know him has a funny sense of humour. Hopefully you are not feeling too bad on the drugs. We have MFI and because of hubbies poor response needs to give him a TESA and get the swimmers out that way.

    Zakmick how are you tracking?

AFM - we are waiting to start our next cycle with day 1 in august. Have still been taking the herbs from the acupuncturist and trying to get fit and back to the gym most days.

    Have a good day all.
    Hey midnite!!
I'm ok, as you said taking my herbs, doing the acupuncture. Trying to focus on weight loss but had knee surgery last week so can't do any exercise.
Looks like I have ovulated so one more AF and then FET.
Just waiting, waiting, but on a good note TCM lady said my body is responding really well. So fx this will be our time. Otherwise back in for a full stim cycle.

Ice the area if you can, I read that some women ice while their partner gets the meds ready.

I always find pinching the skin and going in on an angle slowly works and I get hardly any bruises and I don't use ice either, I do rub afterwards though.

The stinging/ burning could be the meds spreading slowly, maybe rubbing the area for a little while afterwards will help the meds disperse quicker or even icing again.

The blunt ones are the buggers at the end but at least theres not too many of them (they give me bruises 😡)

Hi Jen, I noticed since I've gotten older needles are really bothering me the nurse said some people get more sensitive with age lol they never bothered me before. I was so scared to be put to sleep the first time but it was all ok. You know you can do it coz you've done it before. Make sure you pinch your skin well for injections and rub the area well afterwards, my husband did my injections while I pinched the skin, was easier. In regards to putting one embie or two, I always choose one, that's because twins would add to complications I might encounter coz of pcos. I also read an article someone on here put a link to that putting two didn't increase your chances, where I thought it did. Discuss it with your partner and your FS, you will decide what's right for you. Good luck

Thanks di for the advice. Still unsure on 1 or 2 but I am swaying towards 2. This is as I said before I had 2 put back and got 1 baby..... Always think what would have happened if they only put 1 back and it was the one that didn't make it, as there were no frosties either!

As for me day 3 stimms done. Feeling a few twinges in my ovaries but no pain apart from after jab last night. Just think you hit sensitive areas occasionally and last night was one of them! No burn though. I start morning jabs on Tuesday and have blood test so will feel like a pin cushion that day. Hoping for egg collection 7/8 so not long till the end of all the treatment.
Drinking a pint of milk a day, and extra protein..... But does anyone know whether I can eat pineapple? I had heard it mentioned but can't remember if it's a do eat or don't eat and I have one in the pantry that has my name on it!!!!
Thanks ladies, hope you are all well!

Jen good luck for EPU, hope you get heaps of healthy eggs!

I remember reading something on here about pineapple, pretty sure it's ok to eat, now u mentioned it I really feel like some! Are u with MIVF? What's your doctor like?

AFM- I saw mine on Friday even though this pregnancy isn't from ivf, he has absolutely no emotion, personality or bedside manner, but he did run the blood test I asked for to check progesterone levels which two GP's I saw said wasn't necessary and he wants me back for early scan next week which GP also didn't think was necessary but I wanted it. Hoping it's not too early to see anything, I'll be 7 weeks 2 days (aprox). Unfortunately no one got back to me on the blood test results yet, I've got progesterone pessaries left from last ivf cycle but don't want to take things unless advised by the doctor. Grrrr! I am praying every day everything works out with my little miracle because changing doctors was definitely on the cards! At this stage I still don't know where I will be going for care, the GP said I was too high risk for shared care, don't think I can or want to keep seeing my FS (my private health insurance won't cover, just joined...) I want to go to the women's but I'm not in their jurisdiction so only if I need special care will I end up there, otherwise could be sunshine hospital....nooooooo!)

Hope everyone is well and had a good weekend

I don't think there is a problem eating the pineapple during cycle, but I have read about eating a small piece of the core for 5 days after transfer as well as a kiwi fruit for the same 5 days it's suppose to help with implantation, but it was stressed only a small piece of the core.

I'm glad the injections are getting a little easier, I feel by the end of stim cycles I could walk around with blood gushing out of all the holes made by the numerous injections and BTs- walking pin cushions absolutely.

Are you taking zinc? Been reading about that all our cells are made up of zinc and is vital for us as well as men.

Just a suggestion as I'm not sure if your taking any supplements or even DH but its been suggested by my TCM lady to get DH on vit C and zinc to help with the swimmers.

So we are both now on zinc. Also I've been reading a lot of women during stim cycles are taking royal jelly (don't take if your allergic to bees etc) too- its suppose to help with egg quality.

Also my FS tells me to drink at least two litres of water a day while stimming and especially after transfer. Just purely suggestions.

Your theory on the 1 vs 2 is how I think too.. This argument goes back and forth in my head, now we both just go with two.

Di I don't know if I could continue seeing a specialist when I was pregnant who brought down my excitement about being pregnant after appts. You want someone to be energetic and excited for you.

My gp classed me as high risk last pregnancy and referred me to RWH, but the women's didn't agree with the referral and said I was out of jurisdiction and to look at Sunshine or Northern. I agree I have huge reservations about Sunshine, but they have recently built a new maternity wing and my SIL had my nephew there. However she used a private obstetrician so she had someone consistent. She said he wasn't too expensive (if obs can be) and felt very comfortable with him, he is in Keilor. Dr J Naidoo. With saying that, I still don't know if I would go to Sunshine something about that place just puts me off, but like you I might not have a choice, if we ever get to that point. You can go have a your of the hospital though.

Also my FS says the progesterone results in blood test results don't reflect the actual, he mentioned something about the corpus luteum and progesterone in the same sentence. I really should write things done in appt.. So my FS doesn't test for progesterone at all.

You rest as much as you can, drink lots of water and treat and be treated like a princess. You are carrying precious cargo! Don't do anything that you may regret!

Glad you are having a scan too, usually 7 wks is when you have your early scan with a BFP with IVF, and between 6-8 wks you see the heart beating, and it will feel so much more real then. Take tissues, it's very emotional.

    Have a good week girls
