The test can cause an abnormality but can be a god send to others you have no choice but to use pgd. We still have great odds by not going down that path yet. It's not completely off the table x
Sorry for another question i am still learning lol...what is pgd? Is that the name of the testing? I am just worried how many unsuccessful cycles they will let me go through before trying something different, I can't afford both financially and emotionally to go on and on with this and my FS hardly talks, I want to know what my options are if the regular thing doesn't work. I should see how far monash is for me to get to my transport. Keep dr Lynn in mind

Zakmick I'm sorry to hear your results were a little disappointing. Will you do PGD? Do Monash do the PGD on day 3 or Day 5? I've read its not as damaging on a Blastocyst? How long did your Karyotype Tests take to come back?

Di if you feel like you get nothing from your FS don't hand around, it really takes an emotional toll on you if you cannot talk to your FS.

    Hey kmvw,

We are not with monash yet, we are still with city fertility. I made an apt with Lynn Burmeister for July at monash but I'm going to cancel it for now and revisit making an apt down the track if it's needed.

I haven't looked that far into the pgd about what day they do it on yet at monash or cfc will see how the next transfer goes and then maybe reconsider our options.

Our initial individual karotype tests took about a 3-4 wks and then the karotype completed on the product of conception was 5 wks. The tests are sent firstly to the pathology lab and to RCH so it can take awhile.

Di- have you had a full blood work up? There are standard tests completed for recurrent miscarriages/ unexplained infertility and one of the tests is a karotype test completed individually on both of you. The gp who I suggested will arrange for a lot of the blood tests for you- not sure about the karotype though that could be just a specialist test.

Afm: renovations all completed finally moved back into our newly renovated bedroom - only took 2.5 mths! Absolutely love it!! My new walk in pantry and robe are amazing too!! Booking in tomorrow for the arthroscope on my knee, would like it done over the school holidays so I can rest and be on the road to recovery before school starts back- so I can get back to work and earn some money for the next FET. Night x

I did have a heap of blood tests when I started at MIVF the only thing they made me aware of was the low viamin D and asked me to take tablets which I stopped now because I read that taking them long term can make you ill. My iron came up as high but then on the retest they said it was not too bad, not sure if theres anything there that needs further looking into. They don't really explain much .

Yay on getting the reno finished! sounds lovely. Hope the arthroscope goes well and rest up, hopefully you get a lot of work in term 3. Im currently waiting for my second last interview to come, my throat is sore and I'm sick of talking! Can't wait for tomorrow 2 pm!

thanks for that, I looked up the link, i did read about that, and was going to ask for it for our next fresh stim cycle. I am thinking of changning but I'll see how we go with the two frozen embies we have left. Since it is two I am thinking we will have both put in because if I leave only one and it doesn't survive thaw (which has already happened) ive gone through all the drugs etc for nothing. Anyways two collegues have recently gotten pregnant through my FS after ages of trying which boost my confidence in him lol I will see how we go with the next one anyway then decide. But yes, it takes a toll when he seems so clinical and uninterested in whats going on.

Di it would be hard to be working with a FS that has no emotion or it's like pulling teeth to get anything out of them- as it's such an emotional journey. However your not with him for his personality your with him for his skill and expertise and as you said you know two women who have had success with him. X

    Hi girls

Hope u dont mind me popping in. I've been off BH for a while, well i've been stalking a little but no postings.

Zakmick, i'm glad u were able to get some conclusive results from those tests you had, much better than not knowing why it happened. its horrible what you've been thru and I have been thinking about u a lot and hope u get your sticky bfp sooner rather than later.

di - i was with MIVF too and switched to Monash. I am quite anti-MIVF for personal reasons, i think they rush too quickly into ivf without fully investigating all the issues. If our FS at MIVF had bothered to investigate DH further he would have realised that the treatment he offered was never gonna work

Having said that I realised this when we still had two embies left, and i didnt want to abandon them so we went thru with our last fet at MIVF (only 1 ET as 1 didnt survive thaw). Anyway what i'm trying to say is, trust your gut instinct and dont worry about being loyal or owing anything to ur current FS. Put yourself first! I hope u get a bfp for your next fet and dont have to worry about changing FS!!

hehe i could easily rant on more about why i dont like MIVF. I just think Monash are more thorough with their investigations and they are genuinely interested in researching infertility and not just making money from vulnerable people. Now i'm in my 2nd trimester i will be writing to the directors of MIVF to give my full opinion on the treatment i received from them and it wont be pretty!
