    Default Repairing previous c-section scar

I am now 9 wks pregnant with 2nd bub and had c-section first time around and plan to have another one this time. My scar from my first pregnancy almost three years ago is all raised (hypertrophic I think its referred as?) and pretty much looks as red and raised as it did at the time of the surgery. My ob has said when I have this c-section he can cut out my old scar (effectively giving me a mini tummy tuck) and when he re-stitches it he puts some special dressing on to prevent the same thing happening, but its one I need to keep on (or keep applying) for at least 3 months after.

Just wondering if anyone has had a similar experience and how they went healing after the repair.

    Thanks!

Generally speaking they always remove the old scar and replace it. My new scar isn't as good as my first one, unfortunately.

It sounds like a keloid scar, I get them a lot, it's caused by too much collagen.

I had my scar excised during my second c-section and so far it has healed much nicer, but it's a gamble, it could heal worse than your first unfortunately.

I was told disolvable stitches are the best for a clean heal.

    Fingers crossed it heals nicely.

Apparently not, I thought so too, but had to sign a separate consent form for the scar excision.

I didn't sign anything or was even told about it until after the event
