    Default Beginning our journey.

Well our 3yo DS has now been offically diagnosed with Autistic Disorder and let the fun begin. Going to talk to an Early Childhood development program Tuesday to get our DS into a playgroup that is for special needs children. Then have to sort out this whole carers allowence, and where all this money goes to.And then the Child development service sent referrels to places, and it all just seems so stressful and confusing. Its makes it harder when you have no friends who have been or are going through what you are to talk to about it. I sure hope all this stuff gets sorted out soon.

Having a child with Autism can be hard work. Especially when the official diagnosis is first in. The best thing I can suggest is having a look at the raisingchildren.com website. There is so much info on there about different types of therapies etc. We have found ABA and DTT have been brilliant for our daughter. We are also teaching her PECS (if you are unsure of these google is brilliant) as she is non verbal and this gives her a way to communicate while encouraging her to talk. Austim is such a diverse disability there are so many different levels. How long have you been looking into Autism? What sort of info are you after?
