Surprised nobody has already mentioned it but what about Go Back to Where You Come From on ABC?

I also second the 7-up series.

Spellbound. It's a doco about kids spelling bees in the U.S.
    I found it absolutely hysterical!
SBS ran some awesome docos recently. Maybe google?
I can't really think right now.

Thanks Laurea, I watched this yesterday.

How sad/awful is it? There was no way out for her, it was like she either a) wait for him to kill her, which he eventually would have and then let a monster raise her children, b) go to the authorities or run and risk him killing everyone she cared about which he was more than capable of or c) do what she did. Horrible!! And to see how numb she had become was really upsetting.

sorry i haven't read all the replies but i recommend 'metal - a headbanger's journey'. even if you are not into metal music, it is very interesting from an anthropology/sociology point of view!
