    Default Posting to Sydney?

    Hello everyone,

My family (almost 4yr old DS and 1 year old DD, DH army) will be posting down to Sydney (Holsworthy) after a 7 year posting in Darwin.

    I have a few questions.

Firstly do many defence families live near Cronulla/Sutherland Shire area?
Is it easy to meet people for myself and the kids to socialise with in the shutherland shire?
What is the commute like to cronulla from Holsworthy?
What is the housing like? e.g yard sizes, sheds, fans, air con, garage
What are the benefits of living in Wattle Grove/ Holsworthy?
Any Suburbs you would recommend avoiding? Any that are great?

    Thank you all in advance

    Hi Alisha,
we were posted in 2007 from brisbane to holsworthy and definitely recommend living in caringbah/wooloware/cronulla area. We are in a 3 bedroom townhouse with an ok sized backyard with air con and double garage. no garden shed though but some of the DHA properties have them.

There are a lot of defence couples and young families out this way and its so great to be close to the lovely beaches and lots of great parks for the kids. there doesn't seem to be much around the wattle grove area compared to cronulla in the way of lifestyle activities - we love it!

the only thing is with a family with more than one child, a towqnhouse might get a bit cramped once they're over 3 and it might be a bit tough getting a freestanding house through DHA out this way but you could always get RA.
Creating a social network should be fairly easy especially with kids and going to child care/little nippas/sports etc you always see mothers groups down the parks.
My husband doesnt mind the commute to work also- straightforward and against traffic, about 30-40mins (obviously a bit of a longer drive than darwin!)

I hope this helps!! Good luck with the house hunting!!
