As a general reply to your post - absolutely I wondered about the effects of vaccines. My son has allergies and (had) eczema, exactly why I've sent the last 5 years looking at the evidence and asking lots of questions

I would say it's given to young children bc they are the most susceptible and they want to start immunity early.... and I know many will say many vaxxes don't 'hold' and I agree, but I'm coming at it from a govt POV why they vaxx youngens.

As a first time mum to be I would love to know from the mums against vaccinations why? Not to explain themselves but to help me understand.
As a teacher I am pro vaccine becos I see how quickly things spread in a school wen a child comes to school sick.
However the thought of giving my baby 30 needles in less than 2 yrs is alarming.
Do ppl just boycot ALL vaccines, or just some? And where do you find reliable research as I hav little faith in science (something is only fact until someone proves it's not and who knows the conspiracies that must go on)

Hi CarrieT, there is a wealth of anti vax information on the hub if that's what you're after. What I'm trying to promote in this thread is discussion anround the scientific evidence related to vaccines. If you have 'little faith in science' this probably won't give you what you're looking for.

Yes that's what I was advised of too from the the health nurse when I was talking to her about it at the time of bub having his 6mth vaccinations. She actually gave me a print out of the story... sorry I no longer have it otherwise I would share it.

For our situation, I intend on giving DS his vaccinations before he starts school as I agree this is where all the germs seem to hang out! We won't be doing rotavirus, hib or pneumococcal, I will be doing Hep B, dtap and possibly mmr , we won't be doing varicella or meningococcal ( my niece went into a coma after her meningococcal shot and the professor at sydney children's hospital advised my SIL not to give it to future children so we are being overly cautious just in case ) and we will do polio maybe before he starts high school or if we intend traveling overseas where this disease is still active. I will say though our GP considers us low risk, as in none of our immediate family works in any health services and my son does not and will not being going to day care/ pre school plus we are a family of naturopaths ( mil and SIL) so we are overly aware of nutrition and are building up his immune system naturally, apart from my older niece with the health problems my sisters daughter and BIL kids have not had any vaccines and touch wood have never had any health problems, my nephew has had to stay home from school twice when there was an out break of chicken pox and whopping cough, he didn't get either disease

I said I would like to know from Mums not from a website, written by a possibly biased author. If this isn't the right place to hear from Mums then I am very confused. Sorry for breaking your precious rules.

From your reply I'd say you didn't actually read my OP. I very specifically asked that this thread be kept free of anec-data, opinion, blogs, conspiracy theory and emotive rhetoric.

There are many threads to ask mums for their opinions in the immunization section and there are many threads where pro vax opinion is not welcome. All I'm asking is that this one thread stays free of that. I don't see the need for the petulant response.

As it stands that causal link has been investigated time and time again and the evidence is unequivocal, the MMR does not 'trigger' autism.

It is insulting to use the word "casual" when talking about parents real beliefs that their childs Autism is linked to the MMR vaccine.

This post makes it sound like "regression" is the way all cases of Autism are presented and diagnosed. Let us not forget what the studies of Tony Attwood show in being the common ages children are diagnosed on the spectrum and the fact that children are injected with MMR again at 4 years old.
