Christmas gifts for Childcarers...

Hi,

DD1 has been in day care since March, so this is our 'first' Christmas... What is the 'norm' for giving gifts to her carers... I would like to give them both something small - I'm not worried about the admin or support staff, just her two main carers... What do you get for them?

We will be making some pendants (from shrinky Dinks) and putting them on $2 chains for primary carers and cook. Also making box of assorted Xmas goodies for all staff as our other girl will be attending next year & eventually bub 3 ( currently 11weeks preggers) could not be happier with the care & service!!!!

We for the past 3 years have given the carers $150 towards their Christmas party either in the form of bverage vouchers or I ask where they are having it and go and put it on the tab before they get there. I only do this because I know many of them are part time students and the childcare owner is a tight wad and does nothing for them.

i don't know, i'm really struggling to think of what to get. Neither of DS's carers drink alcohol, not very girlie so jewelry and make up-y stuff is out. I might get them movie passes.

Last year I made a Christmas tree and filled it with lollies, the kids decorated the outside and all the teachers loved it. (Just used 1/2 piece of green cardboard shaped into a cone with more cardboard stapled on at the bottom to hold the lollies in, yellow card star on the top and decorated with $2 shop xmas stickers and textas by the kids).

A couple of years ago I bought them each a really nice quality Christmas decoration each. Last year I just did chocolate and they were totally stoked.

Last year I gave some boxed natural pamper packs to DD1's two carers and a smaller pack for the Director. Didn't want to get food or beverages because didn't know about any allergies or diets etc and didn't know them that well do get anything personal.

When I was a day care worker I appreciated any gift from parents!
I onceReceived a gift certificate for a pedi/Mani and that was heaven!
Also a gorgeous Christmas ornament was awesome - as it tis the season!

I've been given a xmas dec with the child's name painted on in silver pen

and photo frames with a photo of the child these are special to me as much as a letter or card is

DD1 is at preschool 2 days a week I was going to do a small flat Xmas plate, with a bottle of Bella (pink champers) surrounded with chocolates (favourites and ferrero rochers) wrapped in cellophane with Xmas coloured ribbon. I am doing this for about $35 each x 2. I don't really know them to do anything too personal. Next year I will hopefully aim for something a bit more personal when she starts Kindy and is with the teacher 5 days.
