Haha yep, I think everyone knows, but I havent said anything. Only immediate family knows, and my best friend.

3 weeks til my amnio. The wait is killing me. Be glad once its done and I can start telling people.

What I'd give to be 20 weeks already haha. Bet you cant wait to finish work Salgan?

I worked out with all my leave I have (mat leave, long service leave and rec leave) I can take it all at half pay, plus the PPL and have 90 weeks off!! Woot woot. Cant wait.

Gemini that is awesome! You almost get 2 years off! That is great that you get paid maternity. I get 12 months and they will only offer full time work if I come back. I don't know what I am going to do because I don't really want to work full time when my baby is so young. I can't wait to finish work in 20 weeks. It seems so far away.

I keep telling myself that I will relax after 20 weeks but I don't know if I will every relax.

Everyone keeps asking me if we have bought anything yet. I thought I would wait until 25-30 weeks. Is that normal or should we start planning now?

Thats one of the good things about working for the gov I guess. I can take up to three years off, with 18 weeks paid, or 36 weeks half pay. So i figure I might do the half pay with all of my leave. Bugger em. I have been here 10 years, I deserve a break lol.

12 months mat leave is normal though hey? Is that standard around Australia? You can always see how you go, and if you can afford it, and are enjoying it, stay home for longer? I always wanted to stay home til my kids went to school, but I dont know if hubby will agree to that haha

Nearly everyone I know waited til really late to buy stuff, so it must be pretty normal. Maybe they all wait til after the baby shower or something to see whats left to buy? Im gonna buy all my nursery furniture after I get the all clear in 3 weeks. Then its time to spend some moneeeeey honey!!

I thought 12 months wasn't going to be long enough too....but found I ended up back at work 3 days a week when DS was 6 months old. It probably had a lot to do with the fact that we'd moved interstate when I was 10 weeks pg and so we didn't have family or friends over there.....so I got bored really quickly...missed the stimulus of work and any sort of socialising other than DH and DS (and infants aren't all that stimulating....lol).

Plus, it was really good for DS's development socially - he got to hang out with other kiddies 2 days a week - (again, we didn't have anyone else for him to play with...)

Not sure what I'm going to do about work & leave & money this time around. I used all my leave up with Baby #1, and don't have much accumulated this time around (only working 3x days per week and have had to use a few when DS was sick and couldn't go to Child Care...)

I suppose at least we moved back to SA and have family and friends for support now....

Gemini & Salgan - I waited until about 24 weeks before I bought a single thing last time....I think more out of fear that I would "jinx it". Also because when you go into those stores it's just so overwhelming!!!! All that stuff...there's so much!!! And it's hard to know what you need from what you don't.......... I tried twice to go shopping and ended up walking out with nothing because it was just so.....much!!!

All I would say is don't leave it too late though for the big things - cots, prams, etc.....you don't want to end up like my girlfriend who has a 6 week old baby and is still waiting on her pram that was out of stock (she ordered it when she was 30 weeks pg). It was going to be shipped from the US early Dec, then was going to be here Mid Dec, then early Jan, now it's mid to late Jan.....yesterday they said it will be early Feb at the latest. She's fuming.

On another note - I know it's a bit early yet - but has anyone thought about whether they are going to find out the gender or not at the 19 week scan??

DH and I are currently debating this one...... we found out for #1..... not sure what we want to do this time around.....

(although it's only 9 weeks today and we haven't even made it to the NT scan yet.....but still, you get talking about these things....)
