Just a quick reply.. Don't fertilize until around 4pm where we are, otherwise it burns the grass etc from the heat... Once you spread it all out, saturate the lawn until about 7pm!!! I mean, drown it!!!

Then water every 2-3 days in the am or pm (not from 10-3 it's too hot) for about an hour each spot.

We live out in Beecher and have just started watering again because over winter we generally give up because it's too cold... Haha

    Good luck!

    Thanks AP!
I have a handheld shower hosey doodad. I might go get a sprinkler (and a Longer hose). I've not been doing it long enough. I've been watering for about 40mins total. It's so hard. I'm conditioned to level 4 water restrictions. Do you have ANY restrictions here at all? I hope that watering wont put us over the water allowance, ive never had to pay excess before...

elleandsam - that's been us lately. I've been making homemade yoghurt ice blocks and every arvo at about 4 we go out and eat them, and once they are covered head to toe they frolic under the hose. It's revoltingly hot lately. They have been loving being sprayed.

Nooooope no restrictions at all that I am aware of!!! That probably because awonga is only like 2m off going over! Haha...

We bought a timer for $5 from bunnings and one of those sprinklers that go like up and over and swing .... How do I explain that lol.. Any way that was $25 or something cheap like that..

We put it on in one spot for about 90 mins and then move it and do somewhere else haha

When we lived in town we never ever had an excess water charge! And that was with getting new turf and watering almost constantly in mid summer for around 2 weeks!!!

The only thing I would suggest like I said before... Try and water in the morning or afternoon and avoid the middle of the day... It's just too hot and can burn the grass... Also something about evaporation? Someone said that to me but I don't know how true it is haha...

I wouldn't even worry about fertilizer at this stage... Just go for gold with watering... We have done that and it looks funny at the moment because we have missed some patches haha so it's like bright green in spots and brown in other areas hahahaha oh well.

Hahaha okay - I shall correct myself........

Because its cooler I use that as an excuse to stay in my nice toasty bed and not bother getting up to put the sprinkler on hahaha

No but you kind of have to do it from like 9-3 in winter and we both work at those times... We live out here and it gets down to about... 2 degrees in winter in the mornings and nights.... If you water too late it causes frost on the grass and burns it... In the morning you want to let any frost melt off the grass with the morning sun before adding more water to the mix!!!

Hahaha but - I have lived here my whole life..... I am used to the climate!
