    You are not a horrible mother. It was absolutely a fair assumption that the movie would be kid friendly given the time slot.

    It was on Austar awhile back,and we started watching it.The kids lost interest and didnt end up watching the rest.

    I agree .. it was on at a KIDS time .. and its a PG film .. but I'm truly surprised that its PG (mind you .. I think monster house is PG and its a freaky movie for a kid!!)

    My dd loves this movie. She was 3 when it came out and I couldn't tell you how many times we've watched it, it was her fave movie for a while! It is a bit strange but I guess it depends on the child whether they like it or not!

    Totally depends on the child though. DS1 watched Edward Scissr Hands with us and casually asked if Edward cuts peoples heads off with his hands...he doesn't get upset easily at all.

    It sounds like a typical dark Tim Burton story though so I can see why it could definitely freak some kids out.

    i have seen it a few times, and would let my late primary child watch it, no problems.
    id also want them to see the happy ending

    I was just coming in to say the same thing. It's directed by Henry Selick who worked with Tim Burton on A Nightmare Before Christmas.

    I agree it shouldn't have been put in a children's time slot. I imagine they'll get complaints. My daughter saw it when she was 9 and she enjoyed it, but was a bit freaked.
