I agree that the doctors have the facts and the all the latest info on the matter. However, when I was born (1982) and when our parents were born, it was the norm to start introducing solids at 8 weeks! Mums were told to start with things like; watered down vegemite and chicken soup and mashed up fruit. I have no allergies and am very healthy, I don't think it's all bad if they are introduced slowly and with milk being the main source of food. Mums know their child best.

This is what i was going to say. hard to know the ins and outs re being physically ready for it but some babies are just hungry and ready for solids.

I feel your frustration tho, I have a friend whose baby has really bad eczema, she has been told not to feed her wheat, dairy, seafood etc, yet she gives her all these things on a daily basis while the child scratches herself raw and bleeding. I found it so hard to witness, the friendship has died and I would say this is the core issue for me. There is nothing I can do about it, she didn't want advice from me or doctors or anyone, she is the mother and it is her decision.

It's probably different from prems but we were told 4-6 months was okay for solids.
DS started at 4 months bc we felt he was ready (plus he suddenly stopped sleeping through after sleeping through for months which is often a tell-tale sign) but he was a healthy full term babe.
She should definitely be following doctors advice though.
What a hard situation for you to be in
