Default Midwife in North Coast of NSW

    Hi,

I am in Ballina, and I am looking for some recommendations of midwives. I am wanting to have a home birth this time around (just found out we are expecting number 2!) but am unsure of process, and all the numbers I have found seem to be disconnected

Any help would be much appreciated

    Hi tubbles,

Congratulations on your pregnancy and planning a homebirth!
There are a few midwives in our area. I won't post names on forums but if you PM me or email kirrah@traditionalwisdom.com.au I can pass on a few details of northern nsw midwives.
    :-)

Hi. I'm from Ballina too but will be having bub at Lismore base Hospital providing I haven't moved by June ( we are either moving just before or jut after bub is born and it's totally unavoidable ). The hospital didn't give me much info but I'm after a student midwife too. When I had DD in Newcastle the SM just came as part of the deal. Thanks

My partner didn't see the costs of a home birth as a "wise investment", so I'm going through the community midwifery program at Lismore Base.

KayMoxey, I would try to talk to the community midwives if you haven't already, I find them filled with a lot more information like this, but they also provide continuity of care which was one of the things I was looking for.

    And remember...
There's always doula's to make sure you receive continual care throughout your labour... So, soooo valuable!
I have been a doula for the past 4 years in northern NSW (lismore area).

Good luck planning your preferences for labour/birth... Happy Growing!
