Default DS 3.5 holding his breath all the time.

DS 3.5 is constantly (and a majority of the time when sitting still) is holiding his breath for up to 5 seconds at a time then breaths a big sigh out. He has being doing it for a while now and seems to be more prominent. We have not said anything so not to draw attention to it but nothing has changed. This is relativeley new thing (being going on for about a month). He does not have a cold at the moment and does not have trouble sleeping however he does grind his teeth.

I am taking him to the doctors today but just wondered if anyone has being through the same thing?

Sorry, I can't really help, but my almost 3yo does it too. He has done it for ages... Months, i'd say... mostly when he is concentrating (reading/drawing/tv/playdough and the like) and when he is sitting still (which is rare). He is otherwise healthy, although I suspect adenoid problems, and he gets a runny nose too regularly for it to always be a cold or something.

Look forward to hearing your update.

I'm looking forward to what others say as my almost 3year old has just started this and I wasn't sure if I should be alarmed or not. He is also another who does it when concentrating or sitting quietly.

I couldn't AM as he has a speech delay and he would not be able to articulate this. Well, the doctor (who is not my usual one) said that if his sleep, eating and play time is not interrupted not to worry too much. He looked in his throat but didnt say anything. I will keep in an eye on it and the next time I am at my doctors I will bring it up again. Glad there is others going through the same thing.
