    Default 3week old throwing up

Hi my 3 week old has had 4 big spews over the last 3 days. Latest being this morning. Prob about 2 bottles worth of formula. She drinks between 50-100mls of karicare. Sounds like her stomach gurgles a lil when she brings it up. Was wondering if other ppls lil babies did this at this age. Don't recall either of my other 2 doing this many at thus age. Not sure if I should change formula again she's been fine on karicare for the last 1.5 weeks.

Hmmm my baby was like that last week but he is breast fed...
i was upset and he vomited after every feed so i figured my milk was upset...
maybe your bubz tummy doesn't agree with the formula anymore or maybe having to full?
sorry im not much help but hope your baby is okay!

My dd did that once or twice at that age and I think maybe she had a bit of wind and was overfed. It just all came out like something from the Exorcist. She was on Karicare and it just didn't agree with her. The Nan Ha is great. Very gentle for their little tummies- very easy to digest.

DS started throwing up at about the same age, first a couple of times a day then every feed. He was BFed at that point but turns out he was intolerant to cows milk protein (which is what formula is made from).

I cut dairy from my diet & he stopped throwing up. When we put him on formula at 5 months, he was on Nan HA. It's hypoallergenic and partially hydrolyzed so their wee tummies can digest it better.

You'll get a whole bunch of theories ranging from this (CMPI) to lactose intolerance to reflux. My only advice is to try different formulas (even prescription ones if needed) before jumping straight to the reflux diagnosis and starting medication. I'm a firm believer that reflux, while a genuine condition, is also a symptom of much more common problems (like CMPI). I did a lot of research when DS had it and found CMPI is far more common than lactose intolerance & reflux is a symptom of it.

It can be really distressing seeing them throw up that much. GBH. Good luck with finding the answer.

Karicare or aptimil Gold. Made my DD spew I changed formulas and she is fine now.

Nan HA is good supposedly easier to digest.

Heinz Nuture is also supposed to be easier to digest. (not the gold one)

If reflux is suspected then I would suggest novolac reflux formula. It turned out DD has reflux and novolac is working fine.

It could be reflux starting to kick in. I would monitor it over the next few days and see if it continues. I wouldn't rush in and change formulas without seeking medical advice first, could be worth a trip to the baby clinic or gp if it continues and see what they advise. It's not good to constantly change formulas

DS had reflux and I was told that the amount they throw up, isn't as bad as you think. It seems we think its an entire feed, but its actually only 1/4 maximum.

DS was exclusively breastfed for 5 months when his reflux got worse. I then started giving him a little bit of KariaCare AR about half an hour before a breastfeed. He turned into a completely different baby. His colic settled and he started sleeping through.
So perhaps its worth looking at an AR formula?

Ty for all ur replies....so far apart from this morning she hasn't thrown up so will just see what she does. She settles fine afterwards and sleeps well so I'm really not sure.she has a health care nurse app next week on wed, but if she gets worse I'll take her to the gp and get checked. Never had this with the other 2... Hoping it will pass
