This thread has reminded exactly why I dont want a big wedding. Me, DP, our parents, siblings, DP niece and my son.....thats the extent of our (imaginary) wedding guest list. I absolutely love weddings but hate how much pressure different people put on each other to make it 'perfect'.

Default Wedding etiquette - what annoys you?

I'm getting married in a few months my whole life I said I didn't want a big wedding. I started to plan and ended up having 188 guest and that is cutting it right down to family and maybe 20 friends on both sides and no work friends nothing.
I have put a wishing well card but also mentioned that if they didn't want to give money that a gift is also great as I know people can buy beautiful gifts at a cheaper price but would feel obliged to give a big amount of money so they didn't look cheap.
My mother was never married and is a single mother so we had a very tight budget when younger. Now she is doing really well for herself and she wants to prove that to everyone!!! So my cheap wedding is now up in the 40 something thousands.
I'm not a bridezilla I think I would say I have been really good I get all my bridesmaids opinions as I want them to feel as comfortable and beautiful as I want to on the day.
I have family children coming but not friends as numbers are big, unless they are newborns or breast-feeding

Default Wedding etiquette - what annoys you?

What annoyed me the most is I had to chase down half my freaking family the day before the wedding to see if they were coming!! Too lazy to rsvp!

    What has annoyed me?

My SIL UNinviting me to their wedding via TEXT before the invites had even gone out. If you don't have the decency to call me, why not just not send me an invite? Would have been much less cruel.

What annoyed me at my own wedding was my new husband spending most of the night outside the reception venue smoking cigarettes and drinking beer.

A wedding in a shearing shed in the middle of NSW in August with no heating - dragon breath anyone? Pass the alcohol please.

Guests literally CRYING over the table seating. Yep my now SIL did this thank goodness I was blissfully unaware on the day
She also complained that she had to pay for her own drinks while we went off for photos which was only for 1.5 - 2 hours.
DH brought these issues up with her after the wedding (as quite a few of our guests witnessed it and we're disgusted so told us about it later) and she flat out denied it! It blew up into a big fight and now DH and I don't talk to her anymore
