Mellington - It wasn't the NT scan.. thats in 3 weeks, this was just so the OB could get a quick look. He had a little machine in his office.
My FS said they usually try 3 IUI's before moving onto IVF. Sometimes they let you go one more if you really want to, but 3 is the limit ( at Monash anyway!)
I was excited to jab too .. its when you get to finally 'do' something instead of just wait!

    Hi All

Prettypetal I hope the meds lighten up a bit for you, I know it's all so tough, but feel free to take it out on your DH, they get off too lightly

Catemer thanks for your thoughts and hugs and words, it made me realise that there are other standards of service out there that are better! I am in Canberra. I did some googling and it seems that the clinic I use has taken a turn for the worse this last year or so, and my FS, who I like very much, isn't affilliated with that clinic, so a change of clinic seems like it was meant to be I really hope this cycle is the one for you

Skizzie thanks for the hugs. So, I am 39 this year and my three fibroids combined equal a 20wk pregnancy according to my FS, who didn't recommend IUI at all, but said I should go straight to IVF. My gyn that I did this cycle with said that if you are over 35 to only try 3 cycles. I am sure I read somewhere that there is a general understanding that 4 or 5 is the max, depending on the clinic. If it wasn't for the stupid clinic and in particular, the inappropriate sonographer, I might have tried one more cycle, but the thought of any more misinformation or stuff ups was certainly not worth another emotional meltdown

RWS for a good scan. It must be such a relief Thanks for the hugs, as I said, I'm giving this clinic a miss, they are very set in their ways and don't like anyone questioning them. I rarely felt supported, though I must say that the nurses are nice, but I think they are very limited by the 'rules'.

Mellington thanks for the hugs and good luck for this cycle this is the one. I chose to do IUI as a bit of a gentle step into ART. In a way I'm glad I've done it, it's almost like an introduction to IVF and I am so much more aware and educated now It also helped me decide on the clinic and staying with my FS, so no wasting another cent at that clinic.

I had my blood test today and not pregnant and the stupid clinic still can't get my dates right, despite repeated ph calls I rang my FS today and will see her tomorrow. I would love to start a full IVF stim cycle when AF turns up in the next couple of days, but don't know what my chances are on that.

I feel a lot better for having made some decisions. My meltdown over the last couple of days has embarrassed me I am usually a lot more sane

    Stay well and happy everyone

    Hi Chicks

RWS I'm so happy that your scan went well

Melllington - The excitement of a new cycle is a great feeling, i too am happy at the prospect of being jabbed with the needle. I dont think anyone who has not been through this process wouldn't get it

Amabel - Please don't apologise for the melt down, this is the one safe place where we all understand
I was forced to change clinics, I really loved my FS but the clinic he was affiliated with made some major price changes and the IUI was approx $1,000 MORE than everywhere else. It felt like they were trying to make money out of couples who were at their most vulnerable, so based on principal we changed clinics.

On the IUI question, from my experience the amount of times they will do it depends on the couple and their success or chances of success. I'm on my 5th IUI. First 3 were natural, the last one and this one are medicated. Because the first 2 resulted in pg they were happy for us to go up to 6 times. I think by our own choice this will probably be the last though. We have been trying for many years & I just feel like i want a sticky one to hurry up and I think the only way for us will be IVF - if af comes next week.

AFM: I still haven't POAS, i did get some on my way home tonight though. I'm 9dpiui so i think ill do it tomorrow

    for everyone

    Hey there!

Firstly a big thank you to everyone for all of your hugs, support and kind words.

Skizzie - yeah, we are about an hour and 15 depending on traffic LOL) from Fertility First but love them. They Are also one of the few clinics where you don't need to BYO boy juice! Don't forget to switch to decaf now to help your body get used to having it before you have to give it up!

RWS - that's great news re your scan. It's so exciting to hear of the positive way this process can work out. I can't wait to see a pretty pic of your little one's ultrasound.

Mellington - this cycle goes your way. Not weird at all that you are excited about actually having some control over the process. I remember when we were waiting for day 1 of DP's first cycle. Every morning I would ask her is it day 1 yet? And everyday it was a no. Then one the day daylight savings came in she had just finished a block of work so had a block of 4 days off and she woke me up at about 4am on the Sunday morning and said "it's day 1" me in my sleepiness said yep, day 1 of daylight savings.
    DP: no. Day 1.
Me: oh. Day one of your days off.
    DP: no. Day 1.
Suddenly the light bulb went on and I sat bolt upright in bed and squealed, grabbed my phone and forgot that no-one would answer at the clinic! It meant we could now do something to get the process going, so I understand your excitement. And sorry for not replying to you ear
Ire re it not working out last cycle for you. I just had a brain fade and wasn't actually ignoring you!
Also we were told that since the success rate of iui in people of my DP's age was about 20% they were more than happy for us to try the 5 times and then review, or whatever we felt was appropriate.

Amabel - maybe this cycle was the one to give you the courage to make the move to a new clinic. It sounds like everything has pointed you that way so it must be the right thing to do. I firmly believe the universe will show you the way and that if it is meant to be it will happen relatively easily. No need to apologize for you 'meltdown' (not that I'd really call it a melt down - I've had worse over a misplaced mobile phone!). It is understandable that you are very emotional about what you are going through. Life seems to tell us that it is a woman's role to have children, but no-one ever mentions how hard that can be. When we are not doing what we assume should come naturally it can be a very complex and emotional time and reaction. I applaud you for being so strong to go through everything you are doing. I hope we have your strength she we need it too. And the other thing - just blame the hormones!

Good luck to everyone. I can't wait to hear how we all go over the next few weeks.

Hi dancing queen. You found us. Welcome to our little group. I know how crazy long the wait can feel. And it's my DP that is actually the one receiving the treatment! LOL

We have lots of great distraction tips to share. What helped us the most was going through a really crazy busy period at work so even if we wanted to think about it we couldn't! Bubhub is a great distraction tool too.

Are you doing a supported cycle? Any injections etc? What clinic are you using?

    Welcome again

Just be careful. Are you using pregnyl injections? If so they say to allow 24hrs for every 1000units injected prior to testing (otherwise your just getting the pregnyl) in the result! I can't remember if you said you were stabbing or using the cream?

Thanks we are with QFG southbank. My FS is great so far. I was on 50 iu of gonal F. On day 9 of my scan my Dr found 19 mm folicule which he said is about to burst. So we had horrible trigger shot ovidel or something to trigger ovulation. On day 11 had my first iui .

Thats my history so far :-)

Hope everyone is being good and not testing early. I have given my test to hubby to keep somewhere safe as i wanted to test since 2 dpo. 2 early..... I knw but cannot stop myself.

Dancing Queen: Welcome! I'm with QFG southbank, too! I bet we've shared a waiting room without knowing it, haha! Who's your FS?
How are you coping with the tww? I definitely found it to be the hardest part of the cycle. The needles were nothing compared to the waiting! You're very good for handing over the prego tests to your husband. I've got no self-control!

Catemer: Thanks for being so lovely . You're absolutely right, it's strange the things that you become excited about. I've never been so into my menstrual cycle, if you know what I mean? Haha!

Amabel: Good luck with the next week. Hopefully your next cycle will go a bit more smoothly, whether it be IUI or IVF. I can't imagine how frustrated you must be.

RWS: How many weeks are you now? It's so exciting when your bub starts to look less like a bean and more like a little human on the scans, isn't it? Those cute little limb-buds wobbling around! I hope you're feeling better.

Skizzie: Stay strong! Don't test yet! You've done so well to last this long! Just think, 4 or 5 more days and you will be so much more certain. I know I'm a massive hypocrite, and the worst poas-er EVER, but every cycle I wish that I'd waited rather than torturing myself. I am crossing every digit and limb for your, we need more BFPs!

    Hi

Welcome to our little group of love, Dancing Queen

Hope everyone is travelling along ok

Well........................I did my little POAS this morn and BFN However, I am only 10dpiui, last time when I was pg it didnt show till a little later. Why oh why do we torture ourselves with the HPT? The seal is broken on the box now so I guess I will be POAS-ing every morning now till AF. I should ave taken your advice Mellington & waitied a few more days.
Catemer, i am using Crinone cream so there wont be any falsies

I think I will call the clinic in a day or so to discuss options and to make an appointment with my FS to talk about where to IF AF arrives. I may be a little premature in making the call but I just dont want to lose another cycle waiting for an appointment.
I cant wait till one of us gets a BFP
