OMG Kemmy. That definitely looks like a positive.

I hate to be the downer here but before you get all excited, what drugs are you on? Remember some of them can give false positives in the hpt.

Fingers crossed it is a true positive for you. I'm so excited for you.

AFM - I am sitting in a cafe waiting for DP. She has just been taken in for her egg retrieval. I'm nervous for her, but she is excited! Dr Anne thinks there will be about 11 eggs ready to pick up!

    Hi girls

    Thanks for your messages!

I called my fertility specialist this morning and spoke to the receptionist... thought I'd let them know that today at 11dpo I got another positive on a HPT. She told me to settle down, it's still very early (I know that! I guess I'm excited because when I had the chemical pregnancy I never got a positive HPT so my levels MUST be higher this time?) and she told me that the progesterone pessaries can cause false positives? I haven't been on any other drugs, no trigger shots etc... just started the pessaries at 5dpo. Has anyone else heard this before?? Talk about deflation...

I thought progesterone & HCG were completely different hormones?!
Anyone have any thoughts on this?

catemer - 11 eggs, that's fantastic! that all goes well with DP retrieval today.

blackduck - It could still be really early... sending you lots of

Hi Kemmy. Yeah the progesterone pessaries can cause a false positive. The purpose of the progesterone is to help the body think its pregnant and release more hcg than normal, hence the false positive.

Good news. There were not 11 eggs ready for collection. There were 15! So our 15 little eggs are currently at dr Anne's getting jiggy with our donor! They will call us later today to let us know exactly how many were fertilised. (The staff will call us not the eggs! LOL!)

On Monday we will get 2 little ones transferred into DP! Here's hoping we get twins!

Kemmy, my fingers are crossed for you. Was the line on today's test darker than yesterday's?

    Hi Kemmy,

I have asked my nurse and my FS on multiple occasions if progesterone pessaries can cause false positive and they both said no. Progesterone thickens your uterus lining to assist with implantation.

I asked them when I started them because I didn't want to get excited if I got a BFP and that's the case.

My fingers are crossed for you, let us know how your blood test goes on Sunday.
