I've only just started my search for an oven but Ilve have some nice freestanding ones for just over $3k.

    Absolutely. If you share too?!

We're wavering between going freestanding or having a separate cooktop and oven.

I like that freestanding tends to give a bigger oven for your money, but I also like the idea of an induction cooktop.

yeh i am also thinking about induction, but not sure really? my hubby is oldschool and wants gas and I am unsure?

DH wants a falcon -which apparently is like an old school oven? I don't know if I want to go oldschool or super modern steam oven type thing

I recommend gas... I have an electric (non-induction) and honestly, I really, really want to change but the cost makes it a no-go for us.

It's now the #2 thing on a list for a new house (#1 being a 3+ car garage for DP )

I mean where did all these choices come from?! Just give me two to choose from!

I like the idea of induction because DD likes to cook with me, but at the same time she's good with not touching and DH loves the industrial loon of a big freestanding oven.

And I do agree it will suit our house, but is it a better investment to go smaller oven and induction cooktop? Argh!

yeh i haven't used induction - only gas so im not sure?

for me i would always go a better oven and settle for gas if it came down to it.
