I think buttoneska's description is scarily accurate

But like others I don't get the coffee table thing. I don't have one as I don't think they are necessary, but I wouldn't put in a on bogan criteria.

This is a long shot, but maybe rich-rich people (like ye olde money, aristocracy) don't have coffee tables. Maybe it was a working class piece of furniture, historically. I'm sure wikipedia has the history of coffee tables.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coffee_table

wiki basically said the coffee table was invented in England as a knock off of the Japanese style table and then made to in styles of the previous eras. So it's a rip off of one style mocked up to look like it was from another style. Sounds pretty bogan to moi.

btw- not only do I have a coffee table, but I have a coffee table made in a god awful balinese style...

I wonder if the queen has a coffee table. She must be the antithesis of bogan so that would be a good test.

Who suggested the coffee table criteria? Maybe they meant certain types of coffee tables.

Maybe they meant people who eat at the coffee table?
