Default "spin off" What is a Bogan?

Everyone seems to be using Bogan today! I thought a Bogan was a mullet wearing and thong wearing guy who drives fast old cars and has no dress sense? What is the new Bogan?

This was done a while ago and I still can't get SassyMummy's description out of my head. It was so funny.

I guess loves AFL? Drinks a lot of beer?

I answered this question once on the hub and offended sooooo many people.
So I'm too scared to answer! I'd be slammed with the ol' judgey mcjudgey frieght train that stops frequently on BH!!

For me... the new bogan is a little less "stereotypical Aussie," than that.

It's hard to define exactly... though usually when you see one, you just know.

One thing I think is incredibly bogan these days is those cheap fake nails that so many people have - esp if they've got french tips that are square-ended with a really white tip (that's about as long, or longer, than the pink) and the pink is really too pink to look even slightly natural. (Don't be fooled - bogans will still wear other nail colours too...)

I also think bogans tend to enjoy being jerks to others who have different beliefs to them. It's not a simply matter of thinking the other person is an idiot or whatever - they tend to enjoy getting a bit personal and nasty.

ETA - tbh, I think being a bogan is more common than not... and we've all got a bit of bogan in us... lol.

I think most 'laid back Aussies' are considered bogan.

That would make me a massive bogan then! I love football and drink a lot of beer, but I also have a university education. My DP would be very mad if that was the definition of a bogan, he love AFL and beer but prides himself on NOT being a bogan

    Much like 'normal', it's subjective.
