Lightbulb do you have a fave?

So the 5 basic principles that AP is loosely based around ( remember, there are no rules, people, just ways to help us be more responsive parents!) are gentle birth, baby wearing, cosleeping, gentle discipline and extended breastfeeding. Do you have a fave? If I had to choose it would be birth, closely followed by bf. What can top a great, gentle birth as a start to life, supported by a couple of years of bf?
    Bliss!

I love them all and the focus for me tends to change as my daughter's age does... now that she is three we are doing lots of reading on gentle discipline and it is lovely to see the results.

I just wish I had of been more educated about AP years ago as I think it has a lot to offer. I guess my faves have been co sleeping, no control crying and gentle discipline. I wish I had of known about slings too I think they look great but I have never used one. I was pretty much a disaster at bf and wish I had of been better and had more support but I did the best I could for as long as I could.

I'm loving the GD too as Conor gets older and more investigative

Easterlily I think the experience of being unsupported with parenting is really common and I'm glad you have access to support now. It only enhances our ability to make more nurturing choices for us and our families. *hugs*

My total fav would be breastfeeding. I also like GD, as it akins very much to my teaching principles as well, as loooooooove babywearing.

Thanks Janet I think things took a turn for the better when I started ignoring the advice from the MCHN

Hello lovely ladies....tell me ....where can I read more about gentle discipline???

Interesting what was previously said about ignoring advice from CHN....as a first time mum ....at first I was really relying upon that advice....but now I have my confidence, I realise that I really know best and my instincts tell me what I need to do....not a rigid guideline on how often to feed, when they should be doing things...blah blah blah.

I have done a little bit of co-sleeping with my little guy...the weird thing is that I love to sleep soooo much .....and now I think I have passed it onto him!! He loves to nap with mummy in the big bed but also seems to really love being put down to sleep in his cot!!!

    Cheers

Though I do love bf, and gentle birth is also a real highlight, the thing which just warms my heart every day is co-sleeping.
Sometimes I will wake in the night, and just listen to him breathe, and get that funny ridiculous feeling like you just want to laugh out loud, and you get that shiver all over your body, it just seems so amazing that I could have bought this wonderful beautiful little person into the world.
