My friends put a drop of golden syrup in the bottle to ease the bitter taste......as recommended by their pead so bub would drink it. I guess each pead has their way of doing things.

I had tried that, with some success but not enough for him to eat anything substantial..he is so fussy! I had some luck with natural vanilla essence too.

Hi there,
My paed told me to put a couple of drops of vanilla essence in it when we were starting her off + I also added gripewater just to change the taste a bit.
Do you have feeding aversion issues at all or is it just the neocate? They do usually hate it at first but get used to it.
Keep an eye on feeding aversion issues - seeing a speechie who specialises in paed feeding is fantastic if you little one develops any issues in that dept.

Sorry - also wanted to add that "fussiness" can also be a sign of reflux. He probably is a little bit if he's got that nasty colitis. There's about a 60% overlap between the two classes of kids (ie heaps of them have both). Does he arch? Unsettled after feeds?
(Not wishing it on you - wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy but worth know if it is happening...)
