iui process?? Help us!!

Hi ladies,

I have just completed a cycle of ivf icsi with disappointment of miscarrying

My husband n I are going to under take iui, I myself are not to sure of it's process.

We won't find out any info for another month.

Do you have more hormones on iui??

Yes you will be using follicle stimulating drug I was on puregon 65units and they monitor you follicles and lining by dildo cam. When everything looks good and there are one to two follicles they will get you to give yourself the trigger injection usually pregnyl 5,000units to trigger ovulation 24-72 hours later the sperm is injected up into your uterus. You lie down for 10mins and then go home and wait. I think there are 3more injections of a smaller dose of pregnyl about three days apart.

It is NOT useful with people with low AMH!!! You would be wasting your money. Might as well flush your money down the toilet or light it on fire

IUI would normally be the step before IVF/ICSI, not after....If it's a natural cycle, all IUI is is intrauterine inseminination, if there is ovulation induction, it's either puregon or oh, gosh, now I've forgotten the name of the other FSH drug.,... injections, monitering to ensure you don't get overstimmed, and then a ovidrel or pregnyl trigger shot to induce ovulation, with insemination 24-48 hours after. Protocal doesn't usually require pregnyl after, or progesterone pessaries, unless you have a history giving reason for it.
Can I ask, what your fertility issues are?

Anakya: I'm trying it. My fs thinks it will work. Getting it for cheap. I don't have all that money lying around for another cycle.. What's the difference? I flushed 10 k already??

B.bear: I have low amh, but good eggs in good condition. Still ovulate every 28 days

I'm still young n fit (just 28). My f.s is one of the most renowned for ivf, iui, ect....
I trust him, he thinks it will work. I got 10 eggs 1st go on epu. The other fs suspected only 4!
He said I have youth and fitness on my side

I have to schedule another meeting with him. We are away ATM, just doing research. I still have alot of gonal in my fridge from ivf

I am confused as to why you needed icsi with your IVF cycle, but now going ahead with IUI. What was the reason for icsi? If there was a reason, then IUI will be a waste of time in comparison. I had IUI, then after an ectopic we went straight to plain IVF as I had no left tube and IUI was not worth it. (Cycle would have been cancelled if the egg was on the side with no tube.)

Yeah, that's my main wondering too Singa... ICSI is usually due to sperm issues, so IUI wouldn't be really useful, you may as well just have normal sex.

You have the same chance at falling pregnant with normal sex as brogeybear said. Might as well save the money and have sex.

Im sure you said you have low AMH. Low ovarian reserve does NOT work with IUI. You are stimming to get only one or two follicles. In IVF you are stimming to get 10-15 follicles if that didn't produce any eggs or little then IUI is useless.

Not saying this to be mean. Saying it to save you time and money!! Seriously!!! Some FS will just take your money without thinking.
