Default What are the key points that made you choose your doctor and hospital?

    Hi bubhub forum users,

As you all know, having great health is preciously important for baby and yourself.

What was it though that make you choose your doctor and hospital? Was it word of mouth, or convenience? Was this an easy or hard decision? Were you happy with your end experiences?

It would be great to get some responses on this.

    Cheers,

For my first I had no idea! I ended up using an Ob who was highly recommended by a friend- I then did a little research- namely googling his name and looking at parenting forums to see what the reviews about him were. The same with the hospital.

For this pregnancy (which sadly ended in a miscarriage) I had moved to a different state, so I needed to find a Dr who was 1. Available 2. At the hospital I wanted to deliver at 3. Within my price range 4. Also had good reviews!

I ended up just going through the long list of Drs who worked at the hospital and calling a few- took ages, but glad I took the time to find him cos he's fantastic!
Waiting on a miracle- due 1st August

Great to hear you found someone wonderful Aangelzzz! How did you go with the phone calls, was it easy to speak to the doctors on the phone? Were you asking questions or justing trying to get a feel for their personality?

My OB was my fertility specialist, I felt really comfortable and trusted him so it was the natural choice that I stay with him, and he only delivers at one hospital, so that was it. I was referred to him by a gp who suggested that having the continuity of care with an FS who was also an OB might be a good idea.

My first OB was my FS he happened to be away when I delivered DD and I had the OB on call, after a difficult posterior deliver with venthouse and episiotomy the midwife said to me 'You are lucky your original OB was away or he would have done an emergency C section.' So when I got pregnant with DS, I went back to the OB who actually delivered DD. He was fantastic through that labour too, also a posterior venthouse episiotomy but with a much bigger bub. That birth was awesome from start to finish, needless to say I have the same OB this time around!! Good luck on your search!!

He was recommended by my GP, and when I went for an appt I just really liked him. Although we lost our last pregnancy he was really supportive and incredibly thorough, and made me feel that I was being cared for 110%

With my first I went private and choose a dr that I had heard good things about.

With the other five I have gone public and I had no choice about the hospital or dr.
Is blessed to have 6 wonderful kids.

Pretty easy decision for me and DH - we always knew that for bub no 1 at least we would go private. My ob was recommended to me by a friend when I was looking for a gynaecologist and I really liked her so it was easy to go back when I needed her services as an ob. I also like the idea of having four or five days in hospital, and a pretty much guaranteed private room.

I started with the hospital I wanted to go to, then listed all the female obs who deliver there. Then like a pp I trawled through baby and parenting forums for reviews and asked a few questions. I ended up with an awesome ob!

Same as pp, I knew the hospital I wanted and a few friends had babies there and recommend their Dr, I then did research on him, I liked his website and when we first met him he was just fantastic! Since my birth I have 3 other friends also use him!
