Mothers Groups Noth Lakes / MDowns Area

Hello looking at joining a mothers group in North Lakes/Murrumba Downs area. Due to have first baby in 2 weeks time an finding it difficult to find new mothers groups. I am 28 years old an live in MDowns.

I don't know of any, and haven't started looking yet. I'm at Griffin and have a 4wk old

My eldest is at school, so I'm definitely interested in having some interaction during school hours after the holidays

Contact your local community health centre, they run mothers groups for first time mums. The first 4 weeks are at the centre with a nurse and are really educational, then you arrange catch ups amongst the group. Found mine invaluable and have made lifelong friends. I left it too late though, didnt book in until DD wad 8wks old and had to beg to get a spot. I dont think you can book until after the birth but you could always enquire. I really recommend it. If you want to go to the community health centre ones, they are good, but they only run a very limited amount. You have to be a client to book in, so as soon as bub is born, you need to make your first appointment, which can be a home visit. Then the nurse will give you details for the group, and you can ring and book in. They definately book up very quickly so best not to delay. Even though those early days you have enough on your hands!!

I am an example of someone who was turned away from the community health centre ones as they were all booked out

I only first heard about them at 5 weeks and it was too late. On the hunt for some other mother's groups around my area (Brighton). It's not easy is it? Good luck!

how do you get in contact with the community health centre, would they give me this information when I have had the baby or should i just google?

For the northside of Brisbane their number is 1300366039, option 1. You should also get a brochure from them at the hospital when bub is born. But you won't be able to make an appointment until bub is born.

I used to work there, that's all!

Hi! I live in Murrumba Downs and I am interested in meeting up with other new mums. I have a 16 week old daughter. I haven't posted on a forum before so I hope this works!

hey ladies
i live in Kallangur just moved up here and i have a 2 week old daughter and a 4yr old as well and also looking for some new mums to catch up as i dont have many friends here and would love to meet some new ones
